Sauly Update! Paraguay with Josh Sheehan

My most recent trip to Paraguay went a little like this = Over 40 hours of flying and being in Airports, the most amount of beer i have ever drank in my life, wanting to bring every chick i met back to Australia to be my new girl haha and having a whole lot of fun ☺
So it was back to Asuncion in Paraguay again to do another show at their annual expo on July 22nd. This time it was huge! 3 hours before the show i realized the air screw was hanging out of my carby so it was rush rush trying to get this bike going as it didn’t run very well. The show ended up being that big they had to get the riot police in with the shields and batons, the kind of stuff you see on movies. Over 20 thousand people going crazy. The show was a lot of fun as Josh Sheehan, Chino from chilli and myself really turned it on for the crowd. The expo loved the show so much that they put on another one a couple of days later. This time they we’re prepared. As we were gearing up, in came over 100 police, including the riot police to keep this crowd under control. My aim was to try and get a riot started but i think the police had more power over them then i did as i failed with that.

It was so much fun getting to hang out with all the guys and girls from Asuncion again as they would have to be the nicest people on the planet and will do anything for you. It kinda makes you feel like your royalty. They were kind enough to give me the nick name of kangaroo gay (real nice of them)
For some reason i have a bad case of memory lose when i go out drinking but luckily all the guys are kind enough to tell me all the funny things that i was carrying on with haha which i can’t really say on here sorry :p

Paraguay would have to have the hottest chicks in the world living there. Unlucky for me i don’t speak Spanish so i didn’t do very well in that side of things, I’m definitely learning Spanish now. I ended up staying for an extra week cause i wanted to have a little bit of a holiday cause i need it haha and also was hoping to find myself a new chicky which i found but she kept telling me she didn’t speak any English when i swear she was talking English to some other guys……. Weird hahaha.
Over all i had the best time as i always do when i go to Asuncion and can’t wait to go back next year or hopefully earlier.
I also want to give a huge congrats to Sincs, Levi and Maddo. Those boys killed it at X Games this year

Which brings me to right now, I’m sitting at Buenos Aires airport waiting for my flight to head back to the Australia. Then it’s back into a lot of practicing getting ready for the all new and improved Crusty Demons ‘Thirst for Destruction’ tour which starts in October. These shows are going to be crazy. So stayed tunned until then!

Latest Sauly Update - July

After the Darwin stop of the Crusty reginal tour I had 2 weekends off before the next round at Bundaberg. My back was still Very sore from my massive over jump back flipping the Harley at the first round at Gosford, but with 2 weekends off it was all go. It was time to flip the Harley for the 3rd time on that tour. As i came off the ramp the bike went a little sideways then when i landed i blew off the back of the thing and took a few tumbles. I then watched the 260kg bike go straight towards the crowd, it hit a water barrier then bounced into the first fence and barely stop before taking out a few of the kids in the crowd. Nobody from the crowd was hurt and i seemed to somehow walk away from that scary crash.

The following weekend was the last stop of the tour at Cairns. The show was a beauty. I landed my Harley flip spot on even though the impact was that hard my left hand fell off the handle bars though i still managed to ride away as happy as you can be. To top the show off Jackson Strong landed an unbelievable 85ft front flip ramp to ramp. That was a wrap for the crusty reginal tour for 2010.
Ive just recently spent a week down in Mildura with Gav from Quick Fix Harley experimenting with different ramps and distances and also seeing what tricks can and cant be done on these big good looking Harley Davidsons. So stayed tuned for more footage and crazy pics of me doing what i do on these things. Ohh i almost forgot, Harley Davidson Australia were kind enough to hook me up with a brand new Softail Rocker C which is a dream come true for me as ive always wanted to have a Harley.
Which brings me to this weekend, the guys from UNIT are flying me down to Sydney for the weekend to do some signings and also putting us on an extreme helicopter ride which im hopeing is extreme ☺ Straight from there im heading back to Gladstone for the Annual Jono Porter memorial race which is held on the 17th and 18th of this month (july) This event means a lot to me and everyone who ever knew Jono.

Then guess what guys im off to Paraguay again on the 20th to do some more shows and hang out with some really nice people who have become good friends of mine and this time im going to stay a little while longer and let the locals show me a good time ☺

Stay tuned for more funny storys when i get back from Paraguay, I can’t wait! Kain Sauly Saul

SAULY LANDS HARLEY FLIP # 3 IN DARWIN

Kain Saul once again proved he is the master of the Harley Davidson backflip, by completing the stunt perfectly in Darwin last weekend. The machine weighs more than twice Saul’s usual ride a Yamaha YZ250F, an accident performing this trick could be disastrous.

“I was stoked to land the Harley Flip for the third time in Darwin. I over jumped my last attempt in Gosford and injured my back and ankles fairly badly; i wasn’t sure i was going to be able to ride this week. This time everything went perfectly, i can’t wait until the next Crusty show in Bundeberg!” Kain Saul said.

My trip to Panama!

After around 40 hours of flying within 4 days i can say my recent trip to Panama was a fun one.

It started off with a 13 hour flight to LA then a 4 hour flight to Atlanta then another 4 hour flight to Panama. All the crew waited till i arrived then we went straight to a place for dinner that was owned by one of the riders (Rudy Waller).

The next morning we all got up early and went to a work shop and put all our bikes together which took all day as we had to wait on parts and other things to happen. The work shop was right on te Panama canal which was awsome seeing the biggest ships id ever seen cruise down the canal. I also got the opportunity to go surfing over which was awesome. I’ve been getting right into it lately!

Things were a little awkward at first when i found out Chuck Corothers would also be riding the show in Panama. For you guys that don’t know, Chuck also backflipped a Harley Davidson on the very same weekend that I did; however I beat him by one day to be the first in the world ever to do it. In the end we got talking about it and everything was cool, he’s actually a really cool guy.

On the day of the show everyone got up early and went to the venue wich was in doors and the set up was good. we didn’t ride till the afternoon cause of some problems at the venue which wasn’t a problem cause we got to watch the drift cars and stunt road bikes do their thing.

Eventually it was time to ride, i rode for about 15 minutes and my bike over heated and i had to sit that show out but definitly made up for it in the next show. I met alot of cool people in Panama all the riders were top blokes and i can definitly say I’ll be going back there hopefully sooner rather than later.

Thats it for me for now, I’m off to New Zealand next for a demo at the Auckland Supercross so I’ll let you know how that goes!

Cheers

Sauly

SAULY PLACES SECOND IN NEW ZEALAND FMX NATIONALS

Queensland based Aussie FMX champion Kain Saul has placed second in the first ever official New Zealand FMX National Championships.

The event “Red Bull FMX Battle” event, was part of “Raceweek” in the North Island town of Wanganui and is one of the country’s biggest motorsport weekends.

After qualifying, Saul had to go head to head against New Zealand local favorite Nick Franklin with each rider having a 120 second run to throw down their biggest tricks for the judges. Eventually it was Franklin who came out on top narrowly beating the aussie visitor for the win.

i went out and completed a pretty spot on run with all my biggest tricks; I thought it would have  given me the win easily. I was a bit stunned.” Kain Saul said.

“Talking to the judges afterwards they said he got one extra jump in on his run; he rode the course a bit faster than I did.”

Despite missing out on the win, Saul was happy with his return to the competitive scene and excited for the up coming 2010 season.

“I’ve been working hard on a few new tricks, I’m confident that 2010 will be my best season yet.” Saul said.

Saul’s name has been in lights in recent weeks since becoming the first person in the world ever to land a backflip on a Harley Davidson. The Jump was televised world wide and was one of the most downloaded Australian clips on You Tube for many weeks. This incredible achievement placed the current Australasian FMX champion amongst the very best innovators in the sport of FMX.

RED BULL FMX BATTLE FINAL RESULTS
1st     Nick Franklin (NZ)
2nd    Kain Saul (AUS)
3rd     Steve Sommerfield (AUS)

SAULY LANDS WORLDS FIRST BACKFLIP ON A HARLEY DAVIDSON!

Defending Australasian Freestyle Motocross Champion Kain Saul has done the impossible; landed a back flip on a road based Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Saul made the decision to attempt the incredible stunt only 24 hours prior to boarding the XR1200 Sportster machine for the very first time. He made the trip from his home on the Gold Coast in Queensland, to Tooradin, South- East of Melbourne Victoria to spend an afternoon jumping into a purpose built foam pit. Immediately he knew the jump was within his grasp and the very next day made history.

“I didn’t really tell too many people about this jump. I wanted to keep it on the low-down just in case things didn’t feel right, or I wasn’t feeling comfortable. Kain Saul said.

For Saul this stunt is arguably one of the most dangerous of his career. The XR1200 Harley weighs in at a massive 257kg’s; around two and a half times the weight of his regular FMX bike, a Yamaha YZ 250F. The consequences of getting a back flip of this nature wrong, would be catastrophic however Saul took the challenge and the inherent risks in his stride.

“I was actually surprised at how comfortable I felt on the bike right away. As soon as I did my first flip into the foam pit, I knew I could get it done. I was pretty nervous, but that feeling I got when I landed was just amazing; that feeling is why I love riding dirt bikes so much!” Saul said.

The modified Harley Davidson XR1200 is the brainchild of Mildura based, Quick-Fix Harley Davidson dealer principal Gavin Walker. Walker has spent close to two years planning for this moment and searching for the right rider to attempt the stunt.

“I’m just so wrapped to see Sauly (Kain Saul) land the worlds first ever Harley back flip! So much work has gone into making this happen, it feels so good to finally see it pay off.” Gavin Walker said.

The future of the Harley back flip from here is uncertain however both rider and creator suggest there could be the possibility of far more amazing Harley Davidson stunts to come.

Keep an eye out right here on Kain’s website for more details of upcoming shows!

From Melbourne this weekend the Crusty Demons “Beyond the Apocolypse” Tour continues to each of Australia’s capital cities, concluding in Perth on June 13.
